This shackle is a nice size to have to use with a tree saver and / or snatch block when using your winch. The fit and finish of this Warn branded one speaks to its Chinese pedigree. Comparably priced ones are available made in the USA, but I got a good price on this one coupled with the purchase of a Warn snatch block and was pleased when using it during a couple of recoveries this past trip.

This is a necessity for any 4wd. If you do any sort of wheelin then you need at least one. I have a pair for my LoD front bumper and they get regular use. These things do exactly what they're designed to do. No they're not smooth, colorful, or pretty, but they'll work when you need them to. And if you do need smooth, colorful, or pretty then sell your 4wd and buy a Hyundai...

Roughly finished and crudely painted, this product has the Warn name on it, but it is made in China. After ordering this item, I found that I could obtain the industry standard Crosly brand shackles for a few dollars less by going to the local tractor supply/heavy equipment rental store. Same capacity, but cheaper, better finished and made in USA.

If you travel off-highway, there are a number of things you should always carry with you. One of the simplest but most important is the d-shackle (AKA D-Ring). This item is used to attach the vehicle to a tow strap, winch attachment, etc. It is designed to handle the high stresses imposed during recovery operations. Don't leave home without them!
